Alberta Development Partners announces tenants opening in December at The Promenade at Downey

DOWNEY, CALIF. (Nov. 30, 2015) — Alberta Development Partners is pleased to announce an exciting roster of tenants that will open their doors at The Promenade at Downey in December.
In addition to 24 Hour Fitness, opening Dec. 5, and Cinemark’s NextGen Cinema Design Concept and XD Auditorium, scheduled to open Dec. 11, other tenants opening in December at The Promenade at Downey include:
• Floor & Decor
• The Lazy Dog Sports Bar & Grill
• Active Ride Shop
• Jersey Mike’s Subs
• MOD Pizza
• PacDental Services
• Five Guys Burgers and Fries
“The opening of these stores marks the completion of the first phase of The Promenade at Downey,” said Don Provost, Founding Principal of Alberta Development Partners. “We are pleased to bring new restaurants and services to the neighborhood.”
The Promenade at Downey, a 656,000-square-foot shopping center and entertainment district, will celebrate its Grand Opening next summer.
The Promenade at Downey is designed as a contemporary style destination that acknowledges the historical significance of the 50-acre site at the intersection of Lakewood Boulevard and Imperial Highway.
“The Promenade at Downey will not only serve as the catalyst for continued economic growth here in our City, but in the entire southeast region,” said Mayor Luis H. Marquez. “This development is expected to produce over $2 million dollars of revenue to the City annually and add approximately 3,000 new jobs. The impact this will have on our community will be quite remark-able.”

Mayor Pro Tem Alex Saab commented, “We couldn’t be happier to have this development in our City and to be able to provide a gathering place for our residents and community to congregate. At the site where many Apollo and Space Shuttle programs were developed, we’re proud to say that the Promenade’s contemporary design style and enhanced amenities will salute and pay tribute to Downey’s rich aerospace history.”

During World War II, the site was an aircraft manufacturing facility that morphed into a space engineering and fabrication plant after the war. Many space programs from Apollo through the Space Shuttle era were developed on the site.
At the heart of the development is a piazza, which will be anchored with a dramatic fountain and casual seating, outdoor dining and pedestrian amenities. The entertainment court will tell the story of the space missions with an interpretive walk featuring large medallions depicting the patch-es each astronaut wore to identify the mission, as well as educational reading stations with themed elements associated with the space program.
The Promenade also features additional interpretive panels near Cinemark recognizing Downey Studios, which produced movies such as Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Spider-Man on the site.
“Cinemark is proud to be part of the Promenade at Downey with the launch of our new state-of-the-art theatre in time for this season’s biggest holiday blockbusters,” said Mark Zoradi, Cine-mark’s Chief Executive Officer. “Our theatre features amenities for all movie goers like the Luxury Lounger recliners and our XD auditorium.”

The Cinemark NextGen theater will offer the latest technology, including wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor screens in all auditoriums; enhanced sound systems that will enable customers to hear the movie as filmmakers intended; a lobby serving fresh popcorn, fountain beverages and candy; 4K digital projection by Barco projectors; and RealD 3D capability.
